We had Norfolk Young Quilters Workshop yesterday and these are some of the table mats that they created.

Didn't they do well?

The Norfolk Quilters Contemporary Group had a visit to Felbrigg Hall yesterday to see the lovely cushions made by members of the Norwich branch of the Embroiderer's Guild as part of the Capability Brown 300th Anniversary celebration.

It was for once a dry day but there was a cold wind blowing and very cloudy.   This meant that it was quite dark inside the hall.  It helps if you have a torch facility on your phone so you can then take photos in a better light.

The photos show a couple I particularly liked -  sorry about the quality but it gives you a taster.  There are plenty of different techniques used so it is well worth a visit.

The setting of Felbrigg is beautiful and the cafe also has very good coffee, tea and cakes.

We then finished the morning off with lunch at the cafe in the Grovelands Farm Shopping complex, Thorpe Market Road, Roughton.

We also found time to look in Tuliptree Designs (quilting shop) opposite the Grovelands Cafe!

The water is so still this morning - so nice to see after all the storms this week.

Misty Trees

This is only a sample of using paper, Lutrador, Evalon, Organza, Acrylics and transfer paints.

Techniques: Applique, machine stitching

Machine stitched and mounted onto paper background and then onto canvas.

I have tried to break away from my normal colour scheme. It was difficult trying to get paper background around canvas block without tearing it.

Annette Morgan always said we had to try 'WHAT IF' so I did.

Autumnal Hedgerow

Mounted on material background and then onto canvas.

Techniques - hand painting using Inktense pencils and blocks before and after stitching, applique, machine and hand sewing.

Materials: cotton, own proceon dyed cotton, organza, mixed threads

Lesson learnt: Buy canvas first before you start project!
