Seals at Horsey

We visited Horsey Beach and saw approximately 1000 seals on the beach, of which there were 400 pups.  Some of these had only been born that very morning.  There were just as many looking the other way.

 
This piece comprises material, handmade cord, leather, fancy papers and simple stitching.

Leather stitching Day

Here are a few samples of my playing with leather and other textures.  It was so nice to use the sewing machine for something other than creating for my Diploma......roll on June 2015 when hopefully I will be finished.








For this piece I used leather, card, decorated paper, silk, brocade and lace material and held together with simple stitching.

I have been working on my latest designer maker samples.   I am not sure I will pursue this technique again as it has just taken me over an hour to clean the machine and hoover up the mess!

TQ Garden

The garden has taken a battering lately with all the dreadful thunderstorms.   Here are a few pictures of some of the survivors.

Bowls

Needed a change from Diploma work so have been creating a few bowls.

I recently attended a Priscilla Jones workshop held by London Quilters.   We had a fun day, first painting lots of different materials with white emulsion paint and acrylics.   We then cut them up and created our collages.

This sample was inspired by one of the exercises Rosalie Dace uses in her Design In Action Classes.  It is my interpretation of using a geometric shape such as a circle.

Well this is what I have been making the past week for Norfolk Quilters Sales Table tomorrow at St Andrews Centre, Thunder Lane, Norwich,  Hoveton Craft Fayre next weekend and as presents to take to Turkey at the beginning of May.  Next week must complete design work for Diploma and second submission for Contemporary Quilt maker.

Water Reflections

This design was created from a photo that I took of the swirling river waters.  Design printed onto hand painted fabric and ExtraOrganza.  Hand painted with Treasure Gold. Textured paper reeds added between material and organza. Machine stitched and hand painted with 3D paint.

This image was adapted using Adobe Photoshop  Elements and then printed on hand dyed calico and ExtraOrganza.  The backing was black felt and the quilt sandwich was machine and hand quilted.
